A 'Cutting Edge' Book

Reading Log Entry
Book: Scars by Cheryl Rainfield
Sign: Details (flower)
Pages: 1-103

This is something I would picture Kendra would paint
Kendra, an average yet shy girl who always seems to wear long sleeves. On the inside she is scarred, broken, and depressed beyond repair. Starting off the book all we know is she was assaulted when she was six by a man, it haunts her to this day. As her therapist, Carolyn, tries her best to take care of such a broken girl no knows about her secret that lies beneath her sleeve and bandages on her arm. Kendra is a very talented painter no thanks to her mom being a bitter criticizer. Her art is raw and somewhat dark unlike her mom's which is cookie-cutter and picture perfect. To her surprise she starts selling some of her art at the local coffee shop. As school slugs on a girl catches her eye, Meghan, an edgy somewhat outcast bully of the school. Using her breath taking painting/artistic skills she articulacy paints Meghan over and over again keeping her mind off the numbing memories. Could she actually being falling in love, and even more shocking falling in love with a girl? As her homophobic parents blame the assault that led her to  liking such a "type" of person Kendra simply blames love.
